Thermodynamic Analysis of Biomass Gasification Using Aspen Plus: Comparison of Stoichiometric and Non-Stoichiometric Models

چکیده

The gasification process involves several reactions that occur simultaneously and are interrelated by independent variables. Simulation tools can help us to understand the behaviour predict efficiency final composition of products. In this work, two thermodynamic equilibrium models developed in Aspen Plus® software were assessed: a non-stoichiometric model based on feedstock most probable compounds expected from results using minimisation Gibbs free energy stoichiometric set chemical considered as relevant describe process. Both validated with experimental data bubbling fluidised bed semi-pilot scale gasifier pine kernel shells (PKS) feedstock. influence temperature, ratio (SR) steam biomass (SBR) analysed. Overall, predictions gas parameters showed better agreement results. Our point out significance an accurate description producer for biomass.

Simulation of Biomass Gasification in Fluidized Bed Using Aspen Plus

Gasification is a thermo-chemical process to convert carbon-based compounds such as biomass and coal into a gaseous fuel. Among the various types of gasification methods, fluidized bed gasification is one which is considered as more efficient method than others as biomass is fluidized in a mixture of air/oxygen and steam. In the present study, a comprehensive steady state process model has been...

Stoichiometric models and flux analysis

There have been recent advances in metabolic flux analysis. In particular, the marriage of traditional flux balancing with NMR isotopomer distribution analysis holds great promise for the detailed quantification of physiology. Nevertheless, flux analysis yields only static snap-shots of metabolism. To robustly predict the time evolution of metabolic networks, dynamic mathematical models, especi...

Thermodynamic Study of Hot Potassium Carbonate Solution Using Aspen Plus

This paper presents a study on the thermodynamics and transport properties of hot potassium carbonate aqueous system (HPC) using electrolyte non-random two liquid, (ELECNRTL) model. The operation conditions are varied to determine the system liquid phase stability range at the standard and critical conditions. A case study involving 30 wt% K2CO3, H2O standard system at pressure of 1 bar and tem...

Stoichiometric analysis of metabolic networks

A major current challenge in systems biology is to clarify the relationship between structure, function and regulation in complex metabolic networks reconstructed from genomic data. However, dynamic mathematical modeling of large-scale networks meets difficulties as the necessary mechanistic detail and kinetic parameters are rarely available. In contrast, structure-oriented (stoichiometric / co...
